Qualifications and Expertise
As a Lead Designer, Dylan works closely with Fancom’s engineering design team to design and develop drawings & specifications for tender for IT/comms & electronic security systems. Dylan is well versed in industry design best practices and applies them to his designs. Dylan manages the CAD department and is responsible for the delivery of all technical design submissions. Dylan is currently working towards his CTS, RCDD and OSP accreditations to further his education and professional development in the areas of ICT & security design.
Professional Experience
- Coordinate activities among various project stakeholders including clients, architects, engineers, in-house design staff, sub-consultants, vendors and electrical/communications contractors
- Develop work breakdown structures and Gantt charts in MS Project for effective planning and scheduling of project deliverables; update and maintain project schedules and communicate changes to key project stakeholders
- Develop strategies for project implementation based on existing site conditions
- Design IT/comms & security systems including pathways, identification of service locations, telecommunication room layouts and equipment requirements
- Prepare specification documentation for project tender
- Prepare AutoCAD drawings for project tender
- Perform system analysis on fill capacity and communications cabling distances
- Create Class A, B and C Cost Estimates

- City of Brantford, New City Hall, Brantford, (2018-Present) Project Role: IT/Comms Lead Designer. Pre-design, design & construction administration services for the building’s communications, security, paging, and AV systems.
- Entegrus, Fibre to the Business Cost Analysis Case Study, St. Thomas, ON. (2018-Present). Project Role: Project Manager. Pre-design & partial design for fibre to the home cost analysis case study. Structured and coordinated a task breakdown between clients and in-house staff to complete the project under tight
- Sir James Whitney School (SJWS) Phone System Upgrade, Belleville, ON. (2016– Present). Project Role: Helped Design new phone network pathways. On-site resident and phone system programmer. Site coordination of phone distribution. Programmed phones and server for desired client use. Attended daily conference calls with the Client, owner’s representative and contractors to review progress. Carried out routine site inspections to review contractor compliance with construction documents.
